Please don't encrypt the police scanner. I feel safer coming to Rockford by knowing what is going on.

Rockford Scanner provides important information to the citizens...We need to keep it up and running and not let someone take it away from us.

Why can't you encrypt a secondary channel. We understand you are trying to keep Rockford safe. Some people use the scanner to avoid trouble, accidents and to stay out of RPD's way.

What does the city have to hide? Maybe we already know the answer to that. Maybe Rockford isn't safe enough to live in and the city wants to hide it. If the city isn't safe, then maybe those can leave, should leave.

I like to know what is going on in my neighborhood. When we hear about cars being broke in we start to watch outside more and turn on lights at night for example.

I leave for work at 4:24 am daily. I always check Rockford Scanner AND my police scanner before leaving for active Rockford Shooterville area hotspots to avoid during my commute.

If they go encrypted, just think of all the police brutality against minorities that will go unreported. They are trying to protect themselves against lawsuits. This is the main reason for this change.
Just like New Towne housing complex. What is behind that is to move out low income minorities and rebuild the area along with downtown to make money. They are using minorities for purposes to make money.
