Climate change is both a civilizational and generational wake-up call to alter our economy, our lifestyles, now before they get changed for us. The alarm bells of the climate crisis have been ringing in our ears for years and are getting louder all the time-yet humanity has failed to change course. What is wrong with us?

Climate change is already here and greatly impacting public health and the environment. From America's hurricane Katrina, Nepal's droughts, India's heat waves, Philippines typhoon to forest fires, the need for action is impossible to ignore. As President Obama said when announcing the Clean Power Plan, "Climate change isn't just about the future that we are predicting for our children and grandchildren, but about the reality that we live in every day."

The Pope in his encyclical strongly warns "Politics and business have been slow to react in a way commensurate with the urgency of the challenges facing our world."

Archbishop Desmond Tutu suggests we need an apartheid-style boycotts to save the planet.UN Secretary general reminds us that we may have plan B but we don't have Planet B. So let's act now.

Therefore we, the world's citizens appeal to our governments and world leaders to keep their promise, made at COP 20 in Climate change conference in Lima to strike and adopt a legally-binding agreement that will cut green house gas emissions and ensure a growing supply of clean, affordable and renewable energy for all countries thus combating climate change and global warming.

Emphasis should be put on both climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies and activities in order to reduce its impact; And its associated disasters' magnitude and frequency over time.
