Please join me in my effort of showing support to S. 73, the Registered Nurse Safe Staffing Act of 2007. The purpose of this bill is to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act in order to provide patient protection by establishing minimum nurse staffing ratios at certain Medicare providers, and for other purposes. Studies have shown that nurse staffing levels and skill mix make a difference in the outcomes of hospitalized patients. This bill will benefit the community at large by lowering mortality rates, disease complications, hospital costs and improving health care plans.
