As a Director of Nursing I have become increasing concerned for all LTC and Skilled patient safety do to a lack of patient to nurse ratios. Most facilities run off a 3.1 PPD. This is unsafe for the patient and for the nurses. We need congress to set federal regulations stating exactly what all LTC and Skilled nursing ratios should be. In my professional opinion the ratios should be as follows: Skilled facilities should be no more than 15 patients to 1 nurse and Long Term Care facilities should be no more than 20 patients to 1 nurse. I am calling on all nurses across the country to sign the petition so we can finally make everyone aware of what is going on in this industry.

I am in complete agreement. These ratios are unacceptable. Both patients and their nurses are at great risk!
