Skateboarding can be a pastime, a sport, an escape, or a lifelong passion. It’s whatever one wants it to be. The children, teenagers and oldies, such as myself, of Rancho Murieta would benefit greatly from having a patch of concrete with a few obstacles to call their own. A place to stay out of trouble. A place to get away. A place to socialize. A place for positivity.

Skateboarding has shaped who I am as a person today. Without skateboarding, I would not have the persistence or patience learned from trying the same trick for months on end. Without skateboarding, I would not have the eclectic lifelong friends that I have today. Without skateboarding, I would have never picked up a camera to create skate videos with my friends (videography is my profession).

If you are in favor of Rancho Murieta building a small skatepark, please sign.

For reference:

“At the average cost of $45 per square foot, a 3,000 square foot skate spot [would cost] $135,000.”

“Skateparks that are built within the context of a larger park development can cut costs by sharing heavy equipment and other resources.”

October 9, 2020

I was just out by the empty lot today thinking about how perfect that concrete would be for a few rails and maybe a ledge if we could just get the planning board to look our way. It is wild how many people keep messaging me about the old spots they used to skate before things got paved over or turned into gated areas because we really just need a flat space to roll around without being hassled.

Seeing all these names show up is honestly kind of surreal because I started this just thinking about where I could roll around on my board locally. I keep replaying the idea of a real park right here in the neighborhood in my head and it is finally starting to feel like something that could actually happen instead of just a daydream.

Would be great for kids to be active with this designated place for skateboarding. Our kids need this in the community

Definitely time we had something like this in the area. Kids just end up skating in the driveways and getting yelled at which isnt fair to anyone.

Tried to get a skatepark out here around 2007 but couldn’t raise enough money. Still would love to have one!

I would love to see a skateboard park and the BMX tracks open back up since they never put water in the dog park.

Would be great for our grandkids. Closest skate park right now is Ione or Folsom
