We the undersigned are utterly appalled by the use of Shri Ganesh Ji on Rizla's Tobacco Paper products (Part of Imperial Tobacco), which were found on sale today in the UK.

This is extremely offensive to all Hindus around the world and is a blatant misuse of a religious icon.

We hereby demands Rizla withdraws the offensive product from sale immediately and enter into discussion with us directly to rectify the offence caused.

Please sign and spread widely to ensure we uphold the sanctity of Hindu ideology from blatant and totally ignorant disrespect. We as a united Hindu community will not tolerate such misuse.

This depiction is wholly offensive and has the hallmark of creating tension in mixed communities as the product is widely purchased and the company should demonstrate more ethical manner to promote it self. Tolerance should not be tested!

how can the brand manager of the product agree to such an error. i would request the manufacturer to withdraw the product from the market. and the designer of the package to redesign the package and start a fresh

I am curious as to what message they are trying to put across by showing Sri Ganesh. What was the need to bring religion into this? This was obviously not very well thought out. We demand an explanation.

You must show respect towards Hindu religion and it's followers. Withdraw this product packaging immediately from the market. Sensitise your staff about other religions. Your actions have offended millions of Hindus throughout the world and you must apologies for it.

this is really bad ..that ganesh ji has been displayed on a cigrette pack. Till date i have never seen christ, or any other religious figures of such products so why it is so for hindu deties. This is to be removed ASAP

Absolutely shameful, I understand Hinduism is more of a free religion than others, and allows us to do much more with your life by limiting you less, but this does not mean a Hindu God can appear as an image on something so disrespectful to the Hindu culture and religion. Appalled by the UK right now.

I saw a Ganesh statue in a restaurant TOILET in Berlin and took umbrage for obvious reasons. The management refused to remove it, so I googled it and found this petition :( I hope my signing is purely symbolic and the tobacco paper maker has taken heed of previous signatures. Anecdotally, I bought the Ganesh statue for an exorbitant fee, after the Manager promised he wouldn't just replace it with another... My favourite deity now sits proudly in my living room, next to a statue of his dad :)

Ganesh isnt just a pretty desing for decoration. The makers of Rizla need to wake up and realise this.
