There is a high rate of suicide and depression among LGBT teens...it's not because they are LGBT. It's because they don't have a safe space away from those who hate LGBT people. GSA are very important and can be life-saving in many cases!

Then we need to do the old "Kill 'em with kindness" thing. The GSA will give these kids a safe haven free from bullying. Just because someone is involved in this does not necessarily mean that they're GLTB, it means that the person has chosen to support, encourage and show love and acceptance towards one another regardless of sexual orientation.
Sunni, you are doing a wonderful thing, Sweetie. Do NOT let the ignorance of others hinder you. Stand up for what you believe in and stand proud.

I just wanted to let you guys know that we are already getting tons of hate from fellow students with things like, "won't that subject them to bullying even more once people find out that they are in GSA?" Obviously, you don't have to be LGBT to be in the club.ive stated that numerous times but they still cannot seem to get it through their thick heads. I have almost 100 signatures in 1 day..our students want this to happen either for themselves or for their fellow students..of course, the rude remarks hurt when they are directed towards something good youaare doing for the school, but I'm trying not to let that get to me.
