Ringgold Senior High School does not currently have a GSA, or otherwise known as a Gay-straight Alliance. A GSA is a club or group that any person who is LGBTQ&A or even a supporter can join that strives to create a strong, safe, accepting environment for our LGBT students. Regardless of disabilities, gender, gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation, we accept everyone and anyone who wants to be apart of our growing community.

Please help us by signing this petition to convince our school district and it's students to let us create and maintain a safe, accepting club. It highly benefits our students not only socially, but emotionally too as we grow into adulthood. We understand that not everyone in Ringgold wants to be "outed" as LGBT, so that is why once this club/group is created, students will need to sign confidentiality contracts to assure than any information or presence of students at the meetings will not be discussed outside the group. What is said in GSA, stays in GSA.

Our Ringgold High School GSA future meetings will consist of discussion of life issues, current world/country issues, and personal experiences as an LGBT student or supporter.

The school administration can no longer pretend that our community does not exist. We have built undeniable momentum that proves student demand for a safe space is real and it is not going away.

when i was in high scool, my best friend was openly gay and he had a lot of negativity toward him because of his orientation. i wish there was something like this when we attended high school. teenagers these days are very close minded and fear what they dont know and i beieve this program would help them have a bit more understanding toward the subject. i am 100

as a former vp of my own schools GSA I believe it is extremely important for every school to have this club/organization.

Ringgold School District needs to support this club.It is time that LGBT students are supported in school instead of being bullied and harassed. I have recently talked to a former school board member. She told me that when she was a board member they routinely sent LGBT students to alternative education or other places "so they wouldn't be picked on". This is ourrageous and Board members with this mentality have no business making decisions that effect children.

If this is the Ringgold Senior High School outside of Pittsburgh, I was once a teacher there. I could never prove it but I believe that I was forced to quit because they believed I was a lesbian. I am, in fact, a lesbian but that is none of their business. I wish you the best of luck in starting this group.

There is a high rate of suicide and depression among LGBT teens...it's not because they are LGBT. It's because they don't have a safe space away from those who hate LGBT people. GSA are very important and can be life-saving in many cases!

I just wanted to let you guys know that we are already getting tons of hate from fellow students with things like, "won't that subject them to bullying even more once people find out that they are in GSA?" Obviously, you don't have to be LGBT to be in the club.ive stated that numerous times but they still cannot seem to get it through their thick heads. I have almost 100 signatures in 1 day..our students want this to happen either for themselves or for their fellow students..of course, the rude remarks hurt when they are directed towards something good youaare doing for the school, but I'm trying not to let that get to me.
