Re: Proposed Use Variance/Zoning Change on Ridge Rd
Dear Mr. Mayor,
We are writing this letter in response to the zoning change proposed by Ridge Road Properties, LLC for the property located at 849 Ridge Rd and 76-84 Perrine Road, also known as Block79, Lots 4.02, 4.03, 4.04, 6.01 & 6.03 on the current tax map.
The applicant is requesting a use variance from the current office research zone to residential zone, with a plan to build 238 Townhomes and 270 single family homes totaling 508 units.
We as residents of South Brunswick Township in general and residing in the close proximity to Ridge Road in particular are very concerned about the proposed project and its adverse impact on our communities and neighborhoods.
Project of this size & scale will sure change the very fabric of South Brunswick as we know it. It changes our town’s landscape from a suburban setting to an urban setting. We all have either moved here or have been living here, away from busy and crowded towns, as South Brunswick offers a tranquil environment to raise families. Project of this magnitude will rob the residents of this very comfort.
Also, as prominently displayed on our townships’ website, we are ranked #22 out of 100 best places to live in the USA, which we all strongly believe didn’t happen by chance, but ONLY with meticulous planning of our city officials and staff.
We hope the members of various committees (Zoning, Planning &City Council) will consider the adverse effects of this mega project on our township and will once again safeguard the interest of city residents in maintaining the serenity of South Brunswick Township in general and Ridge Road corridor in particular.
We believe the project of this magnitude is more of a revolutionary change as opposed to an evolutionary change to the town. By attesting this letter, we express our concern once again & strongly object the project as proposed.
