Richmond Hill needs to remove this barrier to Small Business

I know I'll be crucified for this, but where would we draw the line? I understand the petition is based around a business offering the type of service that will get the "bleeding heart" support. But, what if your neighbor owned a business that sells sex toys? What if they drove a van that was decalled with pictures of the items they sell? Would one be allowed, but not the other? I live in a municipality that does not have bylaws like this in place. My neighbor owns a small construction company. He parks excavators, trailers and other kinds of equipment in his driveway. It looks terrible. In that case, I somewhat wish we had bylaws like that in place. Lots of love!

I have heard of this vet and she has been recommended to me by a few people.... She should be able to operate anywhere!

Dr. Winslow's mobile vet service provides is essential for very shy pets like our cat, the amazing Tosca.. The Vetmobile is tastefully and professionally signed and in good condition. Lots of contractors and others park commercial vehicles in their driveway. Small businesses struggle in Richmond Hill as is (to wit all the vacant stores on Yonge Street north of Major Mac). I urge the Town to invest more in business development activities and less in NIMBYism.

I am offended that this is even something that we have to petition for?? How many seniors etc and especially pets benefit from this service ?? There has to be a law to protect small businesses that do so much good in the community.

I have a neighbour on my street with a van with his business name etc on it. I have no problem with it. there should be nothing wrong with this ladies vehicle in her driveway. As long as it is not a transport size vehicle it should be allowed.

I am behind you 100%. A friend gave me your number, and I've been holding onto it for the past couple of months. As an entrepreneur myself, I would be furious if such a silly law were to hinder my business. Entrepreneurs unite! Sharing this on my page to gain more awareness!

Also it's a way to advertise your business.Small businesses and work from home businesses need more support now that so many large corps. are downsizing-bylaws need updating to keep up with the current times.

I love that vet truck. i own a small mobile business as well and I would be devasted if someone complained about my vehicle. so this is why i am signing. The person complaining should be ashamed of themselves

I had my own business from my home for years. It bothered no one. The law here should be changed. This Vetmobile provides a huge service to York Region. Especially for the elderly who can't get to the Vet office. She should be congratulated on the service she provides.

I agree that the municipality needs to be a partner in assisting businesses to develop thriving operations in the local community

This law should of been changed some time ago. Thanks for your efforts Barb for trying to get this law changed.

This by-law makes no sense. Small business need all the support they can get from their community and now is the time to show our support.

This is absurd! People need to relax and let others live their lives. We are all doing our best to make a living and that means small business. Time for change!

Please let her park her vet-mobile in her driveway. She's trying to put some faith back in humanity.

It is a much-needed service for a very pet with multiple health problems. The home service is ideal for our family. Our pet needs constant medical attention.
