I would recommend a development plan be presented prior to rezoning approval to determine the opportunities for ingress and egress. This is a very dangerous area along Providence especially if it would be an age restricted community. There was a wreck here this morning actually. Furthermore, I would want to understand how this type of housing would alter the corridor visually. A development plan should help and is encouraged to keep transparency. Not really sure why a rezoning would take place without a design plan to understand all of this.

How about tearing down the government housing just up the street across from International Dr. There’s already a stop light there.

There is a point at which urban/suburban population density becomes unsustainable and will
devalue Charlotte's appeal for businesses considering moving here. We are quickly reaching that threshold, with rush-hour gridlock occurring daily. More high-density construction on the Providence Rd corridor will further erode Charlotte's desirability. DENY Rezoning Petition 2018-142 submitted by Proffitt Dixon.

Providence Road is already at capacity. The addition of these residential units will create gridlock on Providence, as well as other streets in the area.

The volume of traffic in this area is already straining our infrastructure, not to mention decreasing our quality of life. We do not need any more density along the Providence corridor.

The post from Jason S. is worth repeating: ["...... made a good point that everyone is missing. The City’s Planning Staff has previously supported R8 density for this property and from what he said the proposed plan will create LESS traffic than R8. Makes me wonder if anyone is actually listening or if we’re all just mad about any possible change happening."] Is everyone opposing here also opposing rezoning in Waxhaw and near I-485? About 66 people per day move to the Charlotte, the city is growing. If traffic is an issue for you, please consider taking the bus or maybe a better question is why isn't the bus an option for you? Does City Council need to add more alternative transportation choices? Do you drive alone in a car? Do you take your kids to school instead of having them ride the bus. Do your kids carpool for after school activities? Look within for solutions. As baby boomers age, we'll be looking for senior centers and this is a great area to live - you live here, so why not seniors? Please remember the current property owners are selling, their broker are searching out developers. Basically your choice is a senior center or R8. Crunch those numbers and compare the traffic volumes.

Stick to the Centers & Corridors Plan and do not let private developers dictate otherwise.

I live across the street from this proposed project and strongly oppose this rezoning for all the reasons stated in this petition. The traffic on Providence Road is already heavily congested during rush hour traffic.

Increasing density in this area with existing infrastructure will be detrimental to this areas stability and quality of life.

This rezoning is totally inconsistent with all of the single family dwellings in this area. Current infrastructure cannot handle this density and will ruin the suburban atmosphere in this part of Charlotte.
