Rework the Minneapolis 2040 Plan

The goals of the 2040 plan are admirable but the housing policies do not meet the goal. There are no specifics on who or how these policies will correct “historic injustices.” Supporters of this plan call it affordable housing but there is NO PROVISION for lower rents or purchase prices. These will all be at market rates. And of course, they should be, if the development is all in the hands of private owners. There is no call to build affordable units with 3-4 bedrooms for FAMILIES. So far, I just see the 2040 plan as providing more housing options for wealthier people with no children. Also, the fact that these new multi-units do not require off-street parking? Why do existing neighbors now have to deal with the 6-12 potential cars from the new sixplex across the street? What kind of crazy is this?

the one-size-fits-all approach is not in the long-term best interests of Minneapolis residents.

This petition is a clear and insightful analysis of the issues we are struggling to understand. It is beautifuly written and elegantly nuanced. It has my whole-hearted support and accurately represents my thoughts on the subject.

I greatly oppose this proposal. Handing our neighborhoods over to developers is not the answer!

I vehemently oppose the 2040 plan. I willl not vote for any council person or government official, including the mayor, who support this plan.

This process has been rushed. This 2040 Plan is bad policy. The changes to zoning will be a boon to developers only.

There are too many issues with the Plan as is. Either scrap it or rework it.

We need affordable housing for seniors ready to sell their homes and housing for low income workers. We need workers to fill jobs being created and they need places to live.

Allowing any house to be expanded into a rental duplex, triplex or quadplex is a particularly bad idea. Let's scrap this from the plan.

Minneapolis citizens deserve a more fair action plan forward that does not hurt its citizens to profit a few in business.

I oppose the plan as it is currently configured for SW Minneapolis - specifically the Bryant Avenue traffic corridor and adjacent blocks.

We need to preserve the home town like neighborhoods along the proposed corridors, increasing density ruins the quaintness and reasons to live in Mpls in the first place. Many of the South Mpls residents love Mpls as it is not a high density place to live along with all the problems and issues high density creates. Please preserve the neighborhoods we love!
