Affordable housing has been tacked on to the rezoning proposal even though there is no direct relationship between the two. Take a deep breath. Take a step back. Strategies, then all the policies that are not in place then a plan with a limited test to prove the intended and demonstrate any unintended consequences.

We have lived in our home for 38 years and plan to stay. Ours is a lovely home more affordable because of its proximity to lyndale and 50th. Please stop this plan that will ruin our homes

The 2040 initiative is short sighted and needs to take community feedback into the scope of the plan.

If we wanted to live in Brooklyn we'd move there. Farewell to all the trees, gardens, flowers that make this city walkable.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. What I find disgusting is the turning of deaf ears by the planners and some council members.

We are very concerned about the impact on appropriate and historic properties in our neighborhood being replaced. Also, the degree to which the 2040 plan ignores years of effort to build an appropriate long term plan in our Loring neighborhood. We already have buildings going up that are getting wavers from existing restrictions on capacity and height.

When you build a world class transportation system, then you can start to think about increasing density. Creating pain for your constituents is not why you were elected.

Please preserve the beauty and character of the near-century old residential areas along the parkway, one of Minneapolis’ most outstanding assests.

We do not want to become Chicago. This will delete all of the starter homes for the express profit of developers and not family's.

The new plan proposes changes that have not been demonstrated to work to accomplish the goals of more affordable housing. It is long on rhetoric and short on specific programs to address housing needs and is woefully short on programs to support affordable home ownership. We can and should do better than to accommodate developer interests over those of our existing neighborhoods.

The current plan will not provide any affordable housing but will destroy the beauty and livability of our city.

Many good ideas but the zoning needs a rework. I am concerned about loss of nature in the city due to high density around the lakes.

We support the goals of increased opportunity and affordable housing but we don't believe this plan would deliver those and would be to the detriment of many.

Like it says in that famous Joni Mitchell song, "Don't it always seem to go/ That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone" my fear is that the 2040 plan will ruin the character and history of our beautiful neighborhoods. In the past, Minneapolis has had the tendency to tear down the old to make room for something "better". We used to have 524 miles of electric trolley lines, which laced through the two cities and reached deep into the suburbs as far as Anoka and Lake Minnetonka. The Twin Cities are now spending billions on light rail to replace what was lost. And guess what's also in the works: streetcar lines in Minneapolis for Hennepin, Nicollet and Chicago Avenues.
I've often heard people lament that Minneapolis doesn't seem to have many beautiful old buildings like other cities. Gone is the grandeur of the Great Northern Train Depot and the Metropolitan Building, whose central atrium was adorned with incredible iron grillwork.
I don't disagree that our city is growing and we need to provide housing for everyone but let's not throw the baby out with the bath water.

My wife and I are totally against this idea. We have lived in the Minnehaha neighborhood for over fifty years.
Why push a plan that has never been successful!
I strongly oppose the 2040 plan
