As this petition states: I strongly support the city's goals, but believe that neighborhoods need to create their own plans to address those goals. Increased housing density is appropriate, but neighborhoods should recommend where and with what regulations. The plan as it stands particularly fails to address transportation, parking, street safety, and to recognize the existing infrastructure base. Please revisit this with widespread local input.

This plan is the dumbest and worst thought out PC group think lowest common denominator neighborhood decimating insulting action that I have ever seen. It needs to go. Any way we can get this on the ballot?? POX.

Doesn’t appear to be a well thought out plan or one that has included communities input.

I am retired and have a paid off mortgage. I don’t want my home that I worked for most of life jeopardized by this plan. I want to live in a community of classic single family homes.

Shows no creativity. Looks like the easiest plan they could come up with.

Longtime Minneapolis homeowner opposed to this plan as currently designed, for reasons well-stated in this petition. The City also needs to thoughtfully re-examine the process by which it developed this proposed plan, as well as the rushed timing of the comment deadline.

I’m all for lower-income housing. But there has to be a better way than destroying the neighborhoods we currently enjoy.

The plan is a top down project. The law intended for bottom up, starting with the neighborhoods, not city staff.

Already the narrowing of city streets to make way for bikers is causing unnecessary congestion. It is this kind of lack of input from community without any consideration for the people who live there that will drive Minneapolis further into the ground. Our current infrastructure cannot support higher density. Nicollet has turned into a freeway and cars scream down the side streets at freeway speeds due to the frustration that the congestion is causing. Please fix current problems and try not to create more. Higher density does not solve anything.

I am Agains up-zoning in Minneapolis! It will change the character of neighborhoods and make them less safe and will lower property values and deprive homeowners of their investments. It will lead to overcrowded streets due to its not providing spaces for off-street parking. Forty foot lots are Not big enough to contain fourplexes without harming the environment and hurting the neighbors that surround the fourplex.

Good for the residents of Minneapolis and other interested constituencies, for organizing around their concerns and taking a strong advocacy approach for being heard!!!

My house at 36xx Aldrich Avenue South has stood for over 100 years and I’ve owned it for over 30 years. The houses in this area are unique and perfect for people who want a yard for their children, pets, and gardens. The 4 plexes, rental homes, and apartment buildings are typically the trouble spots on the blocks. I’m vehemently opposed to the 2040 plan bulldozing our neighborhoods.

Definitely needs work. I was at the meeting at SW High School. Was not impressed with her answers nor her resume.

This is a plan designed to benefit builders. Please listen to your citizens, many of whom feel the 2040 plan is ill considered. We do not need this type of development so close to the city lakes. Please attempt to have a more longitudinal vision.
