The city is TOO CROWDED already. Improve mass transit, make it cheap and easy and fast. It is taking too long to get around within the city already, can't stuff more people into it. And...if you keep doing what you are doing already, you are going to RUIN OUR LIVES.

Hello,
I'm a student at the University of Minnesota. Currently a few companies own most of the housing options in dinky town and the surrounding area. They continue to drive prices up every year. Should the current 2040 plan take effect, this same phenomena will occur in Marcy Holmes; this will gentrify my neighborhood and make it less affordable for people like me.
Please rework the Minneapolis 2040 plan.

What do you think it’ll be? Two decades? Three decades? — long after you and other decision makers are gone from office —that a great lamenting will occur.
‘Oh. You should’ve been here before we sold our city’s soul to big developers. If only we hadn’t destroyed it all in the name of progress! Well we won’t do that again.’

I can hardly pass through my city’s neighborhoods without seeing red! Minneapolis is no longer a tapestry of distinct neighborhoods with unique personalities. Uptown, Lyn Lake, Dinkytown, Loring Park etc are merged into one giant Leggo Land. These poorly-made, unaffordable, Stalinist structures are a blight on our neighborhoods … even before construction is completed. Thriving businesses replaced with empty, cold, “modern” storefronts that few small business-owners can afford, meaning distinct neighborhood businesses are replaced with soulless, national franchises.
Please put a stop to the mega-developer takeover of our culturally rich and diverse neighborhoods before it’s too late. It’s our future. It’s your legacy.

The 2040 plan would be devastating to the health of Minneapolis communities and would only serve to benefit large corporations. It would be irresponsible at best to even consider a plan like this.

Please don't turn south Minneapolis into and entire uptown. The traffic and parking is bad enough. This plan will turn Minneapolis into Chicago and decrease our standard of living. No where to park and constant traffic.

So tired of developers getting to do whatever they want and those of us who have worked so hard to have and maintain our homes being totally disregarded. Homes and neighborhoods are sacred to people. The landscape of the city is starting to look like a mishmash of multiplexs and crowed streets. The early planners who designed all the parks and quiet neighborhoods legacy is being trashed. Such a travesty.

Please add this petition to the public record. I decry the lack of transparency to get neighborhood input to this plan. This should NOT be a "one-size fits-all-of-Minneapolis" plan. It appears that many more units of housing are being built, and that empty commercial space could be rezoned to accommodate housing. I have lived in many Mpls neighborhoods, and wanted a small house and a yard that we could afford. We bought that, almost 30 years ago, and do not want the 4+ multi-story apartments behind us on Lyndale and 54th. We do not want the 4- plexes on our block, which will crowd out single family homes like ours. Redo the plan in favor of those who call the city home, not the developers.

Do not pass the 2040 plan to rezone and bulldoze our charming neighborhoods for four plexes and high rises. It will ruin minneapolis for residents and visitors

The Met Council requires a comprehensive plan every 10 years. In the past Mpls asked each neighborhood to draft its own plan that was rolled into the whole. This was a good idea. Putting power into the hands of people who do not live in the various neighborhoods is a bad idea. No one knows a neighborhood and how it functions like the folks who live there.

Many of my friends have moved to the suburbs to avoid the high property taxes of Minneapolis. I have chosen to stay in Minneapolis because it is a nice place to live. After the 2040 plan is implemented, I will no longer see any reason to pay exorbitant property taxes because Minneapolis will no longer be the lovely place it has been.

The 2040 plan punishes those who live and have invested in existing mpls neighborhoods
Do not shut us out of the 2040 planning!!!!!!
Reworking is definitely needed!
