The plan as it’s written will ruin Minneapolis.

We are opposed to the Minneapolis 2040 Plan in its present state. As is , the Plan could likely upset the balance of Minneapolis neighborhoods. Please rethink. Thank you - Keri and Jamey Grafing 4933 Russell Ave S.

This is not a well thought out plan. Please pause to revise. Please listen to your voters. Do not destroy our neighborhoods. Look at the awful infill in Uptown, down Park Ave, down Blaisdal, in areas of Linden Hills. It becomes a blight and it doesn’t go away.

This plan will go against many young families who have invested dearly to contribute to and to maintain the unique character of their neighborhoods. We should commend continued investments as this keeps neighborhoods vital for generations. We can NOT allow small group of planners/investors to decide the fate for us who have committed to keeping our neighborhoods vital for the long haul.

The city must not turn developers loose on single-family homes. Doing so would destroy our city’s strongest asset.

I have seen this type of high density occur in my parents city and they found that the high density disrupted the neighborhood with more highly mobile people who are not invested in the neighborhood and it's well being. My brother's house is next to an apartment building in St. Paul they have commented they never see anyone from their at National Night Out or coming out to get to know any neighbors. We live on a block where we all know each other and watch out for each other; we shovel for each other, pick up mail, notice when odd cars are around. Our kids all play in the front yards; including the yards of our elderly neighbors. We are a multigeneration on our block and I love that my kids help and get to know our elderly neighbors. I don't want that to change. I moved into Minneapolis as a single person owning my first house, I have stayed to raise my family here. If high density housing happened in my neighborhood I would strongly consider moving out of Minneapolis; even after living here for 20+ years.

This is already an issue and on my block there is a 6 plex development that was denied by the city for height restrictions and the developer John is now selling the lot for around 1 Mil. His profits where diminished so this shows greed and a big developer trying to make a buck at the expense of people living in a “neighborhood”. Higher taxes will push us out in retirement years in 8 years if the development is not slowed down especially multi family. We can’t even park in front of our home now.

The 2040 'Plan' as it stands is shortsighted and reckless. So called 'up-zoning' doesn't even solve the issues it purports to address or to help those it purports to be concerned about, as has been amply recorded by similar attempts in other cities. There are real inequities that need to be addressed but the 2040 Plan is not the solution. Please let's take a GIANT STEP BACK and apply intelligence and sanity to this situation.

While multi unit dwellings are neccassary, so are single family homes. This is a plan that will quickly wipe out the single family homes while increasing taxes and pushing houses into the suburbs. We are not New York or Chicago and I would like to keep it that way.

An inadequate plan. How can one size fits all be the proper attitude for a large metropolitan area?

Not a plan that will create strong communities.

Lowry Hill is currently a uniquely beautiful neighborhood. The proposed 4 unit buildings would detract from that in a big way.

I have read this petition in its entirety and fully agree with and support it 100%. I love my city but this process has not been inclusive of it's taxpayers and voters and must be paused.

Please stop this. Allowing the developers, one percenters legally grab our homes, and mostly build high rent units , we are once again allow greed to control, and abuse of power.

There have already been many good comments put out there that make the case if the plan benefitting developers but no one else. We all love Mpls. Please be willing to shelf your beliefs in favor of looking at other cities mistakes and learn from them. I think the plan as it is now will not improve our City but make it less a less desirable place to live.

Please rework the plan to make it more specific using a more focused cluster strategy for any upzoning granted, and we should use scaleability around the clusters and leave some areas in the interiors of all neighborhoods with single family designations preserved. The focus on families who want that fabric in the cores of their neighborhoods and who want their neighborhood schools to be excellent and walkable should be a focus around the entire city. All areas of Minneapolis should include inclusionary zoning, and direct city investment to create equitable housing.

Please DO NOT approve the 2040 plan in its current state! This plan proposes to change zoning to higher density in all areas of the city without input from the owners of the property therein. I chose to purchase a home specifically because it was in an area zoned for single family homes. Mr Mayor and City Council members you have overstepped your roles and are proposing changes that will significantly damage our city. You claim you conducted input sessions to get input from all residents. But in reviewing the list of events it is apparent that you targeted events held by people who would support your plan. Fortunately, the home owners and tax payers of Minneapolis have dropped the passive aggressive and are now straight up aggressive to STOP this crazy plan!
