I'm a Dunbar Student and Athlete, this isn't just affecting the football team this is affecting everyone, Coach D has done a lot for us Athletes and it's time we fight back with him and for him.

It's an absolute atrocity to FIRE coach Powell and you didn't fire Baker as well. It makes absolutely no since to FIRE a coach who cares so passionately about OUR boys, when it's people out here who don't give a damn about OUR boys lives, like trigger happy cops. I'm disgusted at Dayton Public Schools for even allowing this to go so far. It is complete and total BS and every single Dayton Public Schools alumnae should be embarrassed by this decision, bc it goes against the struggle that we are attempting to come out of. No one gives a F about us, coming from where we're from. And Coach Powell is just trying to give OUR boys a fighting chance in the world by showing them what they need to do to become strong young men and leaders in this crazy world we live in. Smdh at you Dayton Public Schools. What a disgrace.

I have a son that plays for Dunbar, and having Darran as a coach has helped my son develop not only on the field but in the classroom as well. These boys not just want but need Darran in their lives. He is an amazing man that has a heart for kids and a passion for football. Please think about the children that this will affect and bring him back!!!!!

Our football program at Dunbar hasn't been any good since the 90's early 2000's. We started making changes under Coach Powell and his coaching staff. I don't understand how he lost his job and no one else did.

As one of the guidance counselors at Dunbar I have witnessed first hand the dedication Coach Powell provides for our kids. He demonstrates every day what it takes to be a coach in a public school with a majority of students being low income. Losing him would be tragic loss for our school.

Solid man a product of Dunbar who went off to college got his degree and immediately came right back to the Dayton community and started coaching and mentoring at 23. What more can we ask for from a young black man?
