I DISARGEE with uniforms. They do not solve the bullying situations, kids get made fun of due to the way their uniforms looks or fit; instead of fixing a problem, they add to it. Plus uniforms aren't cheap and just add to the amount of money needed to support one child let alone multiple children in a household. I say, Vernon Parish should eliminate uniforms for all their schools, just as they have done so for Rosepine schools and they seem fine with no uniforms. Add Leesville schools, Anacoco, etc to the list and let the kids be who they are and embrace it.

I believe eventually they will eliminate uniforms for Vernon Parish. There is no evidence that uniforms help reduce bullying...another form of institutionalized thought processes. Teach kids to be kind no matter what people wear or look like. That's the real lesson

Uniforms should be taking out because for some families like mine it's very hard to afford them. Buying regular clothes is cheaper and easier to get all year and uniforms are hard to buy for price and to find near middle of year and near the end of year.

I’ve personally had to wear uniforms and I had 2 pair of pants I had to last me all year, because the only ones I could find that fit correctly were still name brand and cost so much. I have 3 kids that I now have to buy them for and they are the same way! Skinny and long legs. On top of having to buy supplies, clothes they can play in, good clothes for church or other nice occasions, and paying for extracurricular activities, that’s a hard blow to a family who doesn’t bring in a huge income.

When enforcing uniform dress code becomes the main priority and a distraction for teachers that they have to do daily uniform inspections, sending children to the office, giving conduct marks, and taking up valuable class instruction time, it’s time for the uniforms to go. When your child is ridiculed in front of the entire class because their shirt isn’t tucked in properly, this is a form of bullying FROM A TEACHER. We send our children to school to learn. We should not be sending our children to a school where the dress code is more important than their education.

I hated uniforms in Elementary. Uniforms come in name brand just like everything else. As a student, wearing a uniform was worse than wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Atleast someone can be like “oh! that shirts super cute!” I’ve never heard a 4th grader say “oh! Your purple shirt that matches mine is so cute!” Compliments go a long way when you’re young!

I am a single mom and uniforms can be costly speacilly when ur child hits a growth spurt or they get ruined..
