This is a petition to call on the Interior Ministry to revoke its decision to ban “The Attack,” the latest film by Lebanese director Ziad Doueiri. On September 6 2012 The Attack had received the permit to be released in Lebanon (Permit number: 1477/2012), but then, on the 26th of April 2013 this permit was revoked after the Ministry of Interior received a protest letter from the Israeli Boycott Office of the Arab league. The main argument put forth to justify The Attack’s ban in Lebanon is that the film was partly shot in Israel and that it includes a number of Israeli actors. While this is true, it is also true that a number of Palestinian films, which were shot in Israel, and included an Israeli cast, some even financed by Israeli funds, were granted a license to be released in Lebanon in the past. This begs the question, how come a different decision was made for Lebanese-born Ziad Doueiri’s The Attack? Moreover, those calling for its ban are claiming that it causes prejudice to the Palestinian cause. Clearly, they have not seen the film. The fact of the matter is that the Sûreté Générale itself had approved its contents and had nothing to say on that matter. In light of this, this petition is driven by a growing and serious concern over what has become a pattern of arbitrary, uninformed decisions dictated by ignorance and taboos, and resulting in a shameful and anachronistic habit of censoring artistic production. This is the latest in a series of politically-driven decisions that are yet again, another insult to the intelligence of Lebanese citizens, to their own faculty of judgment, and their freedom of thought. نناشد من خلال هذه العريضة، معالي وزير الداخلية البناني ، لالغاء قراره بمنع عرض فيلم " الصدمة" (the Attack) في لبنان، لمخرجه زياد دويري. هذا الفيلم الذي حاز على الترخيص بتوزيعه (الترخيص ذات الرقم1477/2012) ثم سُحب بتاريخ 26 نيسان 2013، بناء على رسالة احتجاج صادرة عن مكتب مقاطعة اسرائيل في جامعة الدول العربية. اعتُمد انتقاد الفيلم، على انه صُوّر بجزء منه في اسرائيل، وان بعضاً من ممثليه هم اسرائيليون. مع ان أفلاماً فلسطينية عديدة صوّرت في اسرائيل مع ممثلين اسرائيليين وبتمويل اسرائيلي، قد عرضت في لبنان. فلماذا يمنع عرض فيلم " الصدمة " لمخرجه زياد دويري.؟ ان من طالب بهذا الحظر، اعتمد - وحتى دون مشاهدة الفيلم بأنه ضد القضية الفلسطينية ، مع العلم ان الأمن العام اللبناني قد وافق على عرض الفيلم بعد مشاهدته له، ولم يجد في محتواه اية مشكلة. ان ما يبرر هذه العريضة، هو القلق العميق لهكذا قرار تعسفي بنظرته الخاطئة للمحرّمات، ولردة فعل متخلّفة و بالية أدّت الى اخضاع هكذا عمل فني الى الرقابة. ان هذا الحظر جاء نتيجة تحركات خلفيتها سياسية، وهي صفعة لذكاء وفطنة اللبنانيين ولحكمتهم على اصدار احكام صائبة، وعلى حريتهم في التفكير و التعبير. Ceci est une pétition pour appeler le ministère libanais de l’Intérieur à révoquer sa décision d’interdire la sortie du film L’attentat de Ziad Doueiri, au Liban. Le film avait d’abord reçu le 6 septembre 2012 l’autorisation d’être distribué (Autorisation numéro 1477/2012), puis elle lui a été retirée le 26 avril 2013 quand le ministère de l’Intérieur a reçu une lettre de protestation émanant du bureau de boycott d’Israël de la ligue arabe. On reproche au film d’avoir été tourné en partie en Israël avec certains acteurs israéliens. Plusieurs films palestiniens tournés en Israël avec des acteurs israéliens et même financés par des fonds israéliens ont pourtant eu l’autorisation d’être distribués au Liban, alors pourquoi pas l’Attentat du libanais Ziad Doueiri? Ceux qui demandent son interdiction ont par ailleurs conclu sans même avoir vu le film qu’il portait atteinte à la cause palestinienne. Pourtant le film avait reçu l’accord de la sûreté générale qui n’avait rien trouvé à redire quant à son contenu. Cette pétition est motivée par une sérieuse inquiétude quant à la répétition de décisions arbitraires dictées par l’ignorance, les tabous et un réflexe anachronique de censurer les productions artistiques. Cette interdiction est la dernière en date d’une longue série de décisions dont les motivations sont politiques, c’est encore une insulte à l’intelligence des Libanais, à leur faculté de jugement et à leur liberté de pensée.
