The Victoria Theatre is one of 2 oldest theatres in Newcastle. In it's heyday it was a beautiful Theatre. At present there is only one Live Theatre in Newcastle. To restore the Victoria would allow more live shows to Newcastle. I wholeheartedly support and commend the people involved in this venture and I fully support this project.

The preservation and restoration of this building is important not only to the history of performing arts but also to the architectural heritage of Newcastle and Australia. The expansion of live theatre venues can only enhance the cultural vibrancy of Newcastle and the Hunter region.

Given the major residential developments on its doorsteps, the resurrection of this venue is even more important. It has the opportunity to become a galvanising hub.

I went to Uni in Newcastle and remember this theatre. It deserves to be looked after for both the people of Newcastle and NSW.
