- We, the undersigned, support the plan to bring a new green steel manufacturing facility to Craig, Colorado by repurposing the Craig Station power plant site after it closes.
This project—led by a local working-class family through Ennis Steel Revival LLC—will:
Turn the closed Craig Station into a modern electric arc furnace steel plant
Use clean electricity (not coal) to melt scrap metal and produce new American steel
Bring back 200–500 high-paying jobs in welding, trucking, heavy equipment, maintenance, and operations
Use our existing rail lines, transmission infrastructure, and industrial zoning
Keep Craig’s skilled workers in town—and bring families back
Set the foundation for other industries like clean energy, materials handling, or defense manufacturing
This project is a homegrown solution for a real problem: Craig is losing coal, and we don’t yet have a plan that replaces those jobs.
We believe our town still has a future—one built with steel, grit, and pride.

The scale of this support has secured us a formal meeting with regional economic development officials next week. We are finalizing the transition strategy documents to present during that discussion.

This town needs actual work not just sitting on our hands. A steel mill keeps the skills here where they belong. Good luck Mike!
I would much rather see a steel plant than any waste site. The negatives of the waste completely outweigh any positive. I want my childen to be able to raise their children in the same valley iv been in. Let's not destroy it with nuclear waste
We don't need a nuclear waste dump here. Let's produce something as opposed to storing something.
Craig, America definitely need something like this. This could bring many jobs and future businesses to the area.

I have cleaned up nuke sites most of my adult life. Some in this very area. Not only mines but, processing and waste facilities, and they are never 100%. I've been a part of those communities. Most of which have statically high cancer, and birth defect rates. Uranium and other radioactive isotopes are essentially forever. More importantly, so is the risk. Craig and Hayden already suffer from the toxic trash leaching into the river, out of the poorly regulated Milner Landfill and into our water supply. We don't need more toxic trash and radioactive waste escaping into the air and prevailing winds just West of "The Valley" and filtering down onto our communities. Choose prosperity and jobs. Choose something more productive. Choose something America needs! Choose steel!
