In its current state, I don't consider our local park when looking for an evening stroll - I go down to Balboa. I would love to change that.

I would like to see a transition to evening closure until Housing First options are available.

Great petition and, as a nearby grandmother with an almost 2 y/o grandson agree with all except want to make sure we don't further victimize our homeless neighbors. Maybe a transition to night closure until more Housing First options are available.

Homeless people broke into my vacant home and did considerable damage, left tools Stolen from another Proprety there too. Then when the house was secured, they broke into my shed and left a nasty mess. I was having surgery so the property was vacant.

North Park resident for 9 years, homeowner for 5, parent for 7 months. I've employed a "live and let live" attitude towards park residents for years - don't mess with me and I won't mess with you. This worked until a year or two ago. I've been verbally harassed (while visibly pregnant), had items stolen from my yard, seen a significant increase in trash (including needles, pill bottles, and broken liquor bottles), graffiti on my fence (twice), and had people trespass in my yard on the inside of my fence... I could go on. I'm honestly amazed my house and car haven't been broken into. We NEED resources for our community to get clean and safe again.

I live in this neighborhood and while the homeless sleep at the park during the day, they defecate in my alley and trash it by night. I'm tired of this and don't want to live like this.

I just moved to North Park. I took my three year old daughter to this park on a Sunday morning. I was very sad to find the obvious drug use and homeless encampment. I know these people need a space to do this. But could it be further away from where my daughter wants to play?

This park has so much potential it makes me sad that it's gotten overrun by the homeless and their bad behaviors. This is a very expensive neighborhood to live in and its unacceptable that this park does not reflect those standards. I have a 2 year old and have called the cops numerous times from the playground because ive seen fights break out on the lawn. Im honestly sick of it. This park is walking distance to our condo and I barely visit because of these people. I don't understand why some other parks in NP such as Bird park are impeccable and clean while this one is the total opposite. This is unacceptable and makes me furious. Im sorry, but they need to go. Most of the homeless campers there are low life criminals and drug users. I know this because I see the same people throughout the neighborhood causing problems. Most of these homeless people are there by choice. Many of them receive assistance yet prefer to be homeless. Why?? Because they don't like rules. I honestly don't feel sorry for them. If they were good, harmless, homeless people then id say don't kick them out. But these people are the opposite. They are violent and cause nothing but problems. This park is a family space and they have no respect for it. And with this TB epidemic on the rise its terrifying. They need to go. Ive been in this neighborhood over a year and have only seen it get worse. Something needs to be done. Im sick of it. It is a beautiful park put to waste. Its an eyesore, a danger, health risk, the list goes on. Homeless people should not be allowed to loiter and persist in this park to the extent that they do. Its not right. I am hoping for change!

Please help make our neighborhood park safe and clean, the big problem is the increasing of homeless who live and sleep in the park, there must be ways of removing them to somewhere else, like a homeless sheltered or a one way bus fare to Ohio, its the district representatives to fine the ways to solve this horible problem.

I took my preschooler to the restroom at this park and there were multiple people taking sink baths in there

The lack of empathy from the comments on the part of the residents are disgusting. My partner lives close to this park, and though there are many homeless people, it is clear that this is an effort to push them out, their well-being be damned. As a resident of Irvine, I can attest to the sterility and lack of culture that results from this mindset. Take care of the homeless, and then you can have a nice park.

I have been robbed twice, valdalized 6 times, and had homeless tresspassers more times than I can count. These are bad people who do not help anyone but themselves. The crime is out of control, it is just a matter of time before you have citizens arming themselves and taking care of the issue themselves. WE WILL NOT LIVE IN FEAR.
