Bess Hardware should be redeveloped asap per the plan supported by the Friends of Downtown Glenview. As a resident of Glenview for 40+ years and taxpayer for the last 15 years, I have great memories of that active retail corner (Renneckar’s, Rugen/Bess Hardware). Increased population at that site will help support the growth of future businesses in Glenview. Families paying significant property taxes to be a part of Glenview deserve a revitalized downtown where they can spend time and money reinvesting in our community. The redevelopment of Bess Hardware is critical to continuing that process.

What about the empty corner on Waukegan/Church where there was once a gas station That needs to be developed.

Transit oriented development sites like the vacant Bess parcel have been successfully redeveloped in cities throughout the United States, in Chicago and in so many other suburban Chicago communities like Glenview. It is time we move forward with this plan.

We live in the heart of downtown Glenview. I am very disappointed in the progress of improvements. The architecture and commercial development is subpar to other Northshore communities. We are worthy of architectural details that are part of Winnetka and Highland Park’s character. The Glenview Road apartment building has thousands of square feet of wasted, under-utilized space that should have a thriving business providing tax revenue and residential benefits.

The Bess site has sat dormant long enough and I am tired of looking at it! Let's continue to revitalize our downtown.

Thank for sending this note, Tyler. I haven’t been closely following the objections to the proposed development, however I am definitely a firm proponent of the development proposal and encourage fellow Glenview residents to support this petition and do all we can to allow for new investment in downtown Glenview.

This is an absolute MUST! Downtown Glenview has so much potential to be revitalized and not seizing the opportunity would be a major fail. I'm IN!

Recognizing that density is the key to a more vibrant downtown, I support the plan for the Bess Hardware site.
Thank you for updating me on this ongoing saga!
