I support this project! It will help revitalize a tired, lackluster downtown. It will also (finally) remove a vacant eyesore from one of our major intersections. I’d also like to note that public funding/tax payer dollars are not being used toward the construction of this building. Hopefully, this development and the ground floor Sweet Mandy B’s will attract more foot traffic and local businesses to the area.

I approve of The Drake Groups plan to build their proposed building on the old Bess Hardware site.

Would like to see this project move forward to add to the Glenview downtown area.

This is a necessary step in putting one of the most underutilized commercial sections (ie Glenview Road from Waukegan Rd to Harlem Ave) in the northern suburbs to a better use

After reading the opposition to the plan in the recent paper, I took the time to reach out to the developer who guided me to this petition. The site in question has sat vacant for far too long, and the opposition to the plan seems to be mostly about traffic counts. I would think that most new tenants of the project would pick it due to their ability to NOT own a car thanks to the proximity to the train station, so the main point of opposition seems to hold no water. I support the planned redevelopment and feel it would be a big step towards the continued revitalization of downtown.

I'm in favor of the Drake Group's plan to enhance to the revitalization of downtown Glenview.

This important corner in downtown Glenview has been severely underutilized ever since my family moved here 9 years ago. It is an eyesore in our downtown. I hear many complaints from fellow residents about why our downtown lacks the vitality of other competitive towns in the area. While these voices are many, typically they are unwilling or unable to take the time to show up at Plan Commission meetings. I believe this results in the opposition seeming greater than it really is. The Drake Group's project is visually very attractive and would be a great statement development at our "Main & Main" intersection. Further, the density and uses proposed appear to be very consistent with successful projects going on in other thriving downtown areas (i.e. Park Ridge, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Hinsdale, etc.). I respectfully disagree with the people who are trying to adhere to the standards that were laid out in the 2006 Downtown Revitalization Plan - the landscape has changed dramatically since then! And if it was such a great plan, surely this property on our prime corner would not be sitting vacant today! I would like to see our Plan Commission and Village Board approve this project so that Glenview can have its share of the growth in demand for mixed use projects in downtown/transit oriented areas. And it is a great plus that the developer is a local business taking a lot of risk!

Let’s get something done to revitalize our downtown. This is the best option out there!
