Hope they can wear the School T-shirts again because that's what we have from last year and short on money this year to go and buy all new polos when this student has clothes already! Dress Code Needs to go back to how it was last year

Lol..that is crazy!freshman have enough problems coming from middle school adjusting and now you wan to single them out? WoW..come on east ridge try to save at least some goodness that can com out of east ridge for what is left it least the kids are going to school!

Dress code has always been ridicolous ! We used to get written up at erhs if our shirts came untucked hahaha . I was always in detention or iss !

you should be happy the kids are showing up to school. Stop being so concerned with what there wearing! Happy for whoever started this and is getting it noticed

As a former student, who graduated despite everything this school put me through,this is absurd!!! What is this dress code change going to accomplish?

This principal needs to be reminded that this is a public school not a private. It use to be public schools are suppose to be free. Now days somehow we have gotten far away from that. School fees can be up to $300. At Hixson high before I graduated we also had to pay for books and on top of that we had a dress code. What in earth has happened. Why is public schools no longer free. My dad was a single parent of three kids all in high school at the same time. So you take the school fees and books and multiple that by 3. We are already a grand deep. Now those kids needs school supplies.. Backpacks, pencils, notebooks, etc. Then on top of that they each need new clothes because kids are constantly growing and of course the dress code would change every year. I remember my dad would get so upset and struggled to be able to pay for this. I personally believe public schools should remain free to the public and if they have a dress code make it simple. Only jeans or khakis. No shorts or skirts. Collar or button up shirt of any color. What east ridge is trying to do is ridiculous. Unless they want to provide the clothes to the students they need to drop this dress code. It is highly unnecessary. Like my dad use to say if they spent as much time educating students rather then worry about dress code then this would be an excelling school. However sadly that is not the case. And of course the first few weeks of school the teachers are going to act like police officers patrolling the halls and classrooms and sending kids to the office for having the wrong color shirt on. That's absolutely ludacris. This is a public school. Not private! Oh and I'm sure these parents wish they could afford to have their children attend private. But they obviously can not. So they instead send them to a public. Because it's suppose to be a whole whole lot cheaper. However now days they are about the same.

I hope they don't think this is gonna improve the schools environment any, lmao. Administration wants us to act right, make good grades, and set a good example but yet they treat us with no personal respect at all. Can we focus on how horrible our lunches are, or the building itself? Books? or eh maybe yenno something that MATTERS

Dress code should be changed because not everyone has the money to go buy polos, why spend money on cloths when money is needed towards other things. Cloths don't help you education. It shouldn't matter what you wear to school as long as your going to learn something.

Why don't we just dip the Freshman in orange paint? Like they don't have enough on them already...And I also don't believe in leaving the changing of the dress code at the whim of one individual...

I don't think it is right for them to change the dress code. First, what about the single parents with 2 or more children having to work very hard just so they can buy what their children needs for school. Second, they don't have money to spend on stuff like this because I know my mother doesn't have money for special dress code. Also, she is disable, so it's really hard .Lastly, this is not a good way for the freshmen to start off their year. But if they are gonna change the dress code they should change every grades NOT JUST ONE GRADE .

My son goes to ER Hig... he's a C and D student.. my Daughter goes to a public school in Bryan,TX.. with no dress code.. She makes A's and B's
