Hi all, By signing this petition I wish that The NZ gov. could re-evaluate the negative impact it has on not just the international education sector but also on its own economic development. I understand that NZ is a small country in terms of both land mass and population, and its medical supplies and human resources may not be sufficient to fight this new coronavirus. However, please DO NOT ignore the fact that this epidemic crisis is only temporary and NZ needs to attract global investments and establishments to support new jobs and fight against unemployment as well! Meanwhile, it is good to see the PM launched the $12B infrastructure upgrade across NZ in late Jan. but how do we fund such large project and other unforeseen challenges it lies within when a lot of its tax payers are still in China? I peraonally really hope that PM Jacinda could follow the guidelines instructed by WHO, revoke the ban and learn from PM Justin from Canada on how to tackle such issues. Hopefully the NZ Gov. is able to reconsider the trvael ban and give further explainations in press conf. and face questions like the social-disorder it caused inside NZ where not many people realize! It puts NZ in a vulnerable position and an disadvantage in terms of global trade as well as attracting opportunities in global investments and establishments compared to other English speaking countries like Canada where PM Justin agreed with what WHO suggested. I understand that NZ is a small country and this is not an easy decision, it may not have good enough medical supplies or human resources to fight the new coronavirus, but there is no doubt that this epidemic crisis will be overcomed, and also the fact that NZ needs global attention and recognition in the coming years. In the meantime, it is good to see that the Gov. planned to renew the infrasteructure across the country and put $12B towards this vision, but pls take time think about the negative effects the travel ban could bring up as it now has already damaged NZ's international relation with China.

Should give them the chance

Totally understand the decision of NZ government and appreciate NZ puts kiwis health on priority consideration. However, there are students already isolated at home in China for a long time and should be totally safe enough for NZ, and we definitely will self-isolate ourselves once back to NZ. Or at least, let those students and workers employees who don't have any travel experience of Wuhan/Hubei( other relative safe cities in China) back to their normal schedules. Many of us have been in NZ for more than 5 years, we love New Zealand as our home and we also want to be treated as family. Nobody wants their future get interrupted just by a ban decision. If our health isn't an issue to NZ, we should have the right to enter NZ and back on track. Regards

Dear immigration New Zealand, as a Chinese student, we are eager to study in New Zealand. We have been isolated at home in China for a long time and both the government and the community are restricting travel. We will also voluntarily isolate ourselves after we return to New Zealand, hoping that we can go back smoothly. Thank you very much！

I hope New Zealand will lift the ban soon.

I really wanna back to Auckland to complete my studies. And I can self-isolate 14-14days

I totally understand for local safety, but I hope you can allow Chinese student who go to another country to stay 14days and then come back to New Zealand. It is a good way to keep local safety and the right of Chinese student who are studying in New Zealand.

We are not virus. We are students just like everyone else, who wants to study as usual. Many of us are staying at home to keep healthy. People in our country are trying their absolute best to cure people and stop the virus spreading. So please...let us back.

In fact, I understand NZ Government’s decision, because of the coronavirus seems scary and infectious. But blocking all of people who are willing to go back NZ is not beneficial to both sides. As NZ has lots of Incomes from international students and travel businesses, the best way of control the virus can be in stead of blocking all the people from China, set a temporary monitor room for measure the body temperature. And ask people who passed the temperature test to stay at NZ home for 14 days. And we are willing to do this! I really really want to go back to New Zealand, and after 14 days, say hi to all of my friends and teachers, hug them and tell them I’m finally back! I love NZ as my second home! Please help us!
