I spent 40 years as a Physical Education teacher. I was lucky enough in my later years to discover the neuroscience behind the value of fitness and exercise and it's connection to learning. P

I think every state needs to be on the same page. Kids and young adults are becoming more sedentary overall and we need to give the joy back to play!

Why are we waiting untill children are in kindergarden? P.E. should be a part of ALL education including preschool. I have taught preschool for over 15 years and have seen prenty of children overweight as young as 3!! Countless studies prove that brain activity improves with movement/P.E. It seems with test scores going down, America would have learned it's lesson by cutting P.E. classes by now.

It is getting worse and worse as far as young kids becoming obese. Kids now have a lower life expectancy and are having more health issues at younger ages. If students had to take PE class every year K-12, just think how much healthier our kids would be. The higher ups in education are not worried about quality of life, only if kids can show proficiency!

More PE equals heart disease prevention, less depression, less suicides, less bullying, less money spent on healthcare, higher acedemics, and a better success rate of children who turn into confident adults. Don't be a fool and keep PE in school! With certified health and fitness instructors, we can change the world.

very true obesity is a problem not enough activity at home is a problem and not enough movement period for adolescents is a problem

Michigan lawmakers just passed a law that says kids no longer need to take PE at the high school level if they are in band or a sport.

It's obvious. With the increase in special education students and the increase in obesity, PE is one thing to help both of those issues.

The lack of physical education is why children have become lazy and overweight. With later school dismissals and more homework it leaves most kids with little to no outside play when they get home from school Stop blaming diet and start putting Gym back in schools!

As a former Physical Education teacher, I can TOTALLY support this petition! This is not new. Children are mostly kinesthetic learners.

PE has been mandatory in NY state for many years, although I think some schools get "creative" with their definitions of PE. I've lived in Florida for three years now, and I don't know if PE is mandatory here, but if not, it should be. I hold a degree in Physical Education K-12 from the State Univ. of NY at Brockport.
