Something clearly broken with a planning process where planning committee members can so easily overrule opinion of the planning officer, statutory consultees and local opinion with no accountability or recourse.

The 7 incompetent members who voted in favour of this application should be relieved of their positions on the planning committee. Such decisions undermine all policy, community involvement and democratic principles. Their action is indefensible; if a mechanism for their removal does not exist, one should be created to prevent this nonsense happening elsewhere. I call on the leader of the Council, Julian German, to take firm action against these people.
