I contested this planning permission and endorse my views here. I find it extraordinary that anyone could think it acceptable to sanction and permit the unnecessary building of a two storey residence on this iconic and beautiful headland. This would irredeemably diminish its value for the locals and visitors who love and appreciate the natural beauty, history and spirituality of the place. Aside from the wider invidious ramifications for general development and planning permissions in the area. I question what the Duchy view on this is ....

I and my family have been regular visitors to Rame Head. The peace and solitude of our coastal countryside are needed for all, not just for those who can afford to intrude on our common heritage. More than ever through lockdown we are realising the public health benefits of unspoilt places, and they must remain so. Thanks for organising this petition.

It seems very odd that this planning permission was granted in an AONB against the recommendations of planning officers and AONB staff. Does not sound quite right to me. Warrants further investigation by Cornwall county council perhaps?

I am sympathetic to the need for affordable housing for agricultural workers, however in line with the AONB assessment, this proposed house will neither enhance or preserve the natural beauty of Rame. It is also a considerable dwelling that will cost a great deal more to build than houses in the local area. The applicants letter from the NFU is utter nonsense there is plenty of housing in the local area that will be far cheaper to buy than the cost of this to build. It is also somewhat hypocritical of such an ardent supporter of leaving the EU to then claim the uncertainty it has caused as justification to build a huge property in an AONB. Additionally, the methods used by the applicant to push the application through by abusing his position of local standing calls into question his integrity, ethics and suitability for local office.
