Reverse King George County's Decision to Start School Prior to Labor Day

I vote for start school aftet labor day like always have been as a single mother i need more time on getting school clothes nd supply

Our family has always used the last week of August before the start of school for vacations. Last year, the school board drug its feet on deciding when to start the school year for a ridiculous amount of time, and then they started it earlier. They have done the same this year. I imagine there will be several children who miss the first week or two of school, due to this debacle. We also have a trip planned and paid for, so my children will be missing school as well. And why bother wasting time asking families what they would prefer if you are just going to ignore it anyway! It is insulting.

This decision is unfair, not what the community voted for and means our student will not attend the first week of school due to an already booked vacation. Vacation that has become a tradition that is looked forward to by our family every year and has been schedule for the same week in August for many years now.
Why ask the community to vote if your intentions were to ignore the majority vote. Makes no sense at all and leaves a lot of families in a difficult situation.

I have driven a school bus for 22 years. I am currently in my 11th year driving for King George. The temperatures are usually extremely HOT in August. Our buses ARE NOT air conditioned. For young children (some with asthma and other issues) this is harmful for them. Please reconsider. Thank you.

Being a grandmother of school children there, It hurts the time I get to vacation with them. School needs to start in sept. for families like mine.

This needs to stay with the September schedule. There is no reason to start school this early in August... There is no reason for it. It is not fair for the students or teachers

Once again the KGSB has ignored what the the majority wants. Don't be fooled by the rhetoric, the SB had already decided on the date THEY wanted, so it did matter how the parents/students/teachers voted. The SB is still as one-sided as it's always been.
