Both of my daughters will be seniors at Issaquah High School as well. I cannot believe they are taking this recognition away.

It is very important to recognize those who have put the extra effort of obtaining a higher GPA. It is every student's decision to do more or less. When we ignore those who strive to do more, are we taking away that feeling that why do more in our lives when we are never going to receive
recognition for putting forth the effort of giving more. Also a feeling of accomplishment comes from being recognized.

As someone who proudly wore a honor cord which I earned through dedication and hard work I find the banning of this ridiculous.

Everyone has the opportunity to earn this designation some choose not to.why punish hardworkers? If you are preparing kids for REAL LIFE.. out in the job market they have to learn nor everyone makes the same amount of money you have to work hard to be rewarded

In my life, it has been helpful to know where I stand intellectually relative to my peers. We are all good at some things and not so good at others. Knowing the truth helps.

My grandchildren will go to IHS. I already had to put up with this nonsense 30 years ago in Seattle when my son won the honor of outstanding 5th grader at Leschi elementary and the district decided not to give it to him because he was in the honors program. How do I know? One of the teachers, who was appalled, told me. Dont want his children to have to deal with such absurdity.

You can't take the honors out of graduation.
It prepares children for the real world!! Everything is a competition and you have to be able to win or lose.

This is a jarring proposition designed by insensitive people. We all aspire for excellence in whatever we do. Taking away incentives guarantees lesser achievement and reduction in value understanding.

What is the value of education? Encouraging kids to work hard and be a valuable person to the community and society is a core piece. It is pathetic if school is blindly pushing everyone to mess around and play video games instead of study hard in the name of equal reward. We want equal opportunity and diverse result based on kids merit and hard working!
