As the owner of Gossip Boutique Spa, I firmly agree with all points in this petition - please reconsider!

I cannot believe a petition is even necessary for something as harmless as an "open" sign.

The signs are a convenience for the customers and are not unsightly. If an Open sign is visible, a future customer will drive into the parking lot to go to the business. Personally, I am not going out of my way to walk up to a business to see if it is open. I look for an indication that it is open for business. AKA: an easily visible sign.

In light of recent flooding, this is extremely helpful to know weary travelers can find comfort. Ecclesiastes 2:13 - "I saw that wisdom is better than folly just as light is better than darkness"

How are you supposed to present a business without any signs or indicators

Since I don't text and drive or use my cell phone while driving, I am not always able to tell if a business is open by using Yelp or Google. While driving by, it is helpful to see an open sign. I am more likely to stop when I see it rather than parking and walking up to the door to read a posted business hours display.

Open sign is a commonly used tool to let customers know that we are actually open. We cannot rely on internet or any media to replace the open sign.

The understanding of HOA toward the small business would be great & peaceful for the community which already has so much problems & worries. Please handle with love & consideration.

By preventing the use of these Open signs you are decreasing the customers who visit an establishment in your building; therefore, you are losing revenue. Hurting the businesses in your building will eventually hurt you. Not everyone has access to the internet on their phones. Not everyone will take the time to look up the hours of an establishment while out and about, especially if it is dark outside or raining. Helping your businesses serve your community by letting them know they are open will only help you.

I think it is an HOA overreach to control something as this. I personally do look to see if a place is open or not by the sign, especially if it nighttime. HOA find something else better to do than bothering these small business establishments about their "open" sign.
