I will be honest. I don't believe that the grades should be based solely on "hard work." The point of school is to know the material. That is the reason we take tests. My issue is that my grade suffers because teachers don't help. I have gone from a straight A student to a student with a D. That makes me want to cry. Honestly I did cry. I love learning. But if it this stressful, I stop learning the material and just learn to pass.

Under the standards based grading I will LIKELY move my children to another school.

I am so unhappy with this grading system and watching my kids self esteem and grades go downhill is so depressing for a parent. I would like to see them get credit for everything that is expected of them and for the teachers to expect them to do their homework, instead of students knowing it only needs to be done if they want to retake a test. I do not believe this helps them for college. I also feel like the teachers are not wanting to help the kids and see them succeed. I want to see teachers that are encouraging and caring and loving my kids. I feel the teachers are ao busy still figuring out this grading system and don't like it that they don't know how to truly teach my kids.

I attended last month's parent meeting (I was the vocal guy in uniform) and was utterly horrified by every aspect of FHS' implementation of a so-called "standards-based grading" system. WHY are administrators REFUSING to even consider dropping this failed experiment or to at least make real, substantive changes? Even getting them to state the original motivation for the new system was to address the (two-year lagged) statistic of how many grads needed remedial classes at COLORADO colleges was like pulling teeth. My oldest of four children is an 8th grader at PPSEL and, due to this failed grading system, we've decided to either put her in a different school next year or home school her. FHS "leaders:" feel free to dismiss me as just another parent too stupid to appreciate the SBG panacea you've bestowed upon the community. However, my wife and I have excellent educations from non-Colorado universities and successful careers in nursing and the military. I was most appalled by the experiences of so many military families, who are used to adapting to new schools, cultures and styles. Anecdotally, they appear to be the hardest

Unhappy and feel like my kids were the guinea pigs and now will suffer in college and not getting the scholarships they could.

this system puts our kids at a disadvantage in competing for spots at good colleges and scholarships. Please quit damaging their future prospects.
Why change something that was working? This new grading system is broke and unreliable.

while I agree with the concept of SBG, it's been executed poorly here at Falcon...I'm really not interested in my student's GPA taking the hit while we, as a community and educational system, try to figure out a more optimal execution....

This grading system hinders students from advancing. For military kids, such as myself, that have to move into a system like this in junior/senior year - good luck meeting grad requirements.

This grading system does not help, it just hurts our kids academic process. It shold be implemented at an earlier stage, such as 6th grade. It shouldn't be implemented as late as high school and then we put our kids at risk of failing their most important years!!!!

My son came here last year (11th grade) as an A/B student from a top notch, accredited magnet program in the Carolina's and had 2 scouts following him for athletic scholarships. Thanks to this system, his GPA dropped and he lost both chances at those scholarships. It has continued to drop; we get little to no help in understanding what is happening and what we can do to fix it. Now, he is at risk of not graduating (as well as a few of his peers). We have requested things to help him such as GRADED homework (to ensure that he is understanding the material), hands-on projects to assist him in learning, extra credit opportunities, and more. Unfortunately, this is not how this system works. Also, if he fares well one week on an exam and gets an A - - then does poorly on the following exam and gets an F, the new grade is an F..?..?.. How does that make any sense at all!?
