Return Falcon High School to a traditional grading system

I do hope to see things returned to a tradition grading system. I moved my child out of D49 to another school district primarily because of this grading system. I have personally experienced this type of grading with my other son who attends the middle school. One of his teachers came from Falcon High School and uses this grading system for her class. Needless to say I was completely unhappy with her and the grading and it has definately left a bad taste in my mouth. These kids deserve a better and more fair grading system. Lets help these kids succeed and not set them up for failure. Return the traditional grading system to Falcon High School!

why in the world would we want to not have grades that is so ridiculous. we already have no child left behind Making school way easier than when we ever went to school and now this... noway

Somehow my comment was posted before I could finish. When the standard based grading was introduced it was explained to me as "the same as college". I didn't understand that at all. I have watched friends children who are good students struggle and fail with this grading system. My friend has already decided to remove her child from d-49 next year and I have seriously considered doing so as well. I want my daughter to have the best education possible and I want her grades to reflect what she has learned and earned to colleges. The current system is damaging our kids chances to get into good colleges and earn scholarships. I still don't know what to do. My daughter wants to be with her friends but I want her to have the best shot at college. I am leaning towards removing her from d-49.

Not a fair grading system by far. You don't only count tests for grades as not everyone is a good test taker. Colleges do NOT use this method exclusively...in a class of 300+ people I was still given the opportunity to get a grade in the class as well as on the labs-I was much better with hands on. Standardized testing needs to go-teachers want to teach the kid, not to the test which is why we are losing so many good teachers. I love this community and do NOT want to lose any more kids to other schools. We have a great community...let's keep up the Fightin' Falcon spirit and stay strong on this issue!

I have signed, my husband has signed and my daughter has signed but it still only shows 290. Why is it not registering new signatures?
