A significant majority of Pitt basketball fans do not approve of this hire, and many believe it will be a detriment to the program and Pitt athletics as a whole. Stallings has won just one NCAA Tournament game since reaching the Sweet 16 in 2007. He has a below .500 career winning percentage in the SEC, which is an inferior conference to the ACC in basketball. Current Pitt player Sheldon Jeter transferred from Vanderbilt because he did not like playing for Stallings. This will certainly cause a rift between the players on the current roster and Stallings and will likely cause Jeter to transfer. It is possible that Stallings was hired under suspicious circumstances, here's why: Pitt athletic director Scott Barnes used Collegiate Sports Associates as a search firm to find a new head coach. Former Vandy AD Todd Turner, who hired Stallings to coach the Commodores, is founder and president of CSA. It doesn’t seem a stretch to suggest Turner played a part. Please reconsider hiring Kevin Stallings as our new head coach.
