Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway was the soul of the Orlando Magic, leading the Magic to their first NBA Finals appearance in 1995. Despite coming up short in that series Penny brought an electricity to the city and his presence is still felt today. Whether it be highlight tapes, retro jerseys or his wildly popular Nike sneaker line, Penny is a cultural icon whose reach transcends basketball. Nowadays Penny spends his time coaching middle schoolers in his hometown of Memphis. Penny has given the NBA, and specifically the city of Orlando so much to be happy about over the years, it's time we return the favor. Nobody deserves to be the first player with their Jersey retired in Orlando more than Penny Hardaway
