Marcus Paige is one of the most accomplished and influential student-athletes to ever call the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill home. Not only was he an All-American on the basketball court, but he was also a scholar in the classroom and a leader in the community.
Whether it was in the classroom or on the basketball court, Paige always showcased a great deal of heart, passion, and every in everything he did, and this allowed him to leave an indelible mark on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Marcus Paige has meant so much to the Carolina community, and he deserves to be properly honored for this.
His No. 5 jersey should be retired and never worn again. It doesn't matter that he didn't fulfill the "requirements". Nobody will ever be able to replicate or even come close to accomplishing what Paige was able to achieve at UNC, and this is why he deserves to have his jersey retired.
