Final supporters
If you go to Butler, went to Butler, or live in the Indianapolis area, you know who Andrew Smith is. The Academic All-American who aided Butler in appearing in back to back Final Four appearances passed away January 12, 2016 to cancer. We all have been following the story through social media provided by his wife Samantha. After Andrew's passing, Butler University needs to honor Andrew's legacy in a place none other than Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Please help pay respects to "Moose" and his family and sign the petition to Retire Andrew's Jersey!

I can't imagine anyone else wearing the number 44 for Butler with as much poise, honor, and prestige than Andrew Smith.
Following Andrew through his journey has given everyone around him a new view on life and how to spend the rest of the time we have. Every moment is precious and needs to be treasured, There's no doubt in my mind that he will not only be remembered for the amazing athlete he was while at Butler, but also as a phenomenal human being.
Andrew did so much for the Butler community, not just play basketball for our team. He was an amazing guy and showed his kindness in everything he did. It would be nice to honor him by letting his number stay his, at least in this place. He loved Butler and the community we form. Let us respect his memory, and let us give this gift to his family.
I am asking the university to show us The Butler Way and hang Andrew's jersey from the top of Hinkle. I will one day have the opportunity to be in Hinkle and salute the memory of Andrew hanging from the rafters of Hinkle!
As a graduate and athletic alumni of Butler University, I feel that Andrew Smith has enbodied the Butler spirit and Butler way both on and off the court. He had relentless positive attitude, even in the face of adverse improbable tasks. He is loved and will be missed. Please retire his jersey as there is no one else more deserving to wear the number 44 for Butler.

I know that we will be retiring his #33 at Covenant Christian HS. I'd love to see his Butler #44 also retired.
