We urge the government to find a more effective way of protecting the public from pension transfer scams than a ban on calling new customers; we believe a calling ban would offer little real protection to the public from rogue operators whilst causing serious harm to a highly regulated and legitimate industry which provides a valuable service to its customers.

I believe we should not try to stop the scams by stopping people encouraging a review of pensions. We should stop the scams at source by legislating to make the pension providers take responsibility for the transferring out of their care the pension funds invested with them.
We should be clamping down on the companies that do not conform not everyone
The proposed ban for cold calling consumers about pensions will decrease the awareness and knowledge of better retirement planning.
It won't stop overseas fraudsters! Why not introduce an online and face to face ID System to bring greater legitimacy and confidence back to this industry?
I believe that banning cold calling for pension transfers will not solve the issue of pension scams. I believe there is a better way
Why harm genuine regulated companies when its the scammers that should be targeted?

It is important to emphasise any interventions focus on stopping the activities of fraudsters rather than restricting legitimate firms which rely on various communication channels such as voice to ensure all have easy access to financial advice. A better solution would be to implement more robust controls within pension administrators before any funds are switched.
