Wrong location! Too close to schools and daycares. I don’t want to worry about my children’s safety any more then I already do!

66 Third Street is not a viable site for MANY reasons to let's pause the process & talk about what sites ARE viable.

While I recognize how important it is to support unhoused people, placing a shelter here raises some serious concerns. First, it's just 7 metres from a senior housing building and 250 metres from two elementary schools and two daycares. But it's also right next to our small retail strip, which is resilient but struggling. This is partly because our area doesn't have the density or foot traffic to support local shops, and our public transit isn't great. I've learned that New Toronto has 64% of South Etobicoke's social housing. This means many residents are already stretched thin financially. If people can't afford to shop locally, the shops close, which means fewer people are out and about on our streets. It's a vicious cycle that makes our neighborhood feel less safe. It's proven that busy, well-used streets help keep communities safer and New Toronto needs a chance to build that kind of environment here BEFORE adding a shelter to the mix.

City of Toronto, please prioritize children and seniors. This decision fully ignores their vulnerability!

Wrong location… no community engagement prior to site selection … it’s all wrong

Shelters with harm reduction and/or safe supply do not belong near schools or seniors!

Shelters are important in every community but where placed should be open and transparent with the residents in the community.
