This is a terrible move by ESB. You couldnt think up a better way to kill off Ecars sales if you tried.

Main reason for buying Nissan Leaf was low running costs. These exorbitant charges defeat the purpose as it will make it more expensive than a regular car. I have no problem paying normal rates per Kw but object to a standing charge of €16.99 per month for a service that at best is unreliable.

This is pure price gouging by a monopoly, I have just cancelled plans to purchase a 161 Nissan Leaf.

I am a regular visitor from the UK, driving a Nissan Leaf. At 30c per minute a 30 minute charge will cost 9 Euros. This would add approx 60 mile range to my vehicle, making it more expensive than driving a petrol car.
How will you charge visiting vehicles? I visit for a week or two at a time - it would make no sense to be paying 17 euros a month for a card I only use on one or two visits a year.

I thought the deal was we buy the cars, you provide the infrastructure. I don't mind paying for the units of electricity. but I wont' be registering for the three or four times a year I use the Level 2 charging system. Early adapters will put up with limited distance but nobody else will. I am afraid it's back to the dirty diesel for the long journeys.

For this reason alone, I walked away from the purchase of a Nissan Leaf. This overpricing on a minimum sector can only do harm.

These cost are ridiculous and prohibitive. Why would anyone choose and EV now??? This unrealistic structure will undo the EV movement in Ireland.

Expected something costly like this at some point as government lose so much in taxes from petrol and diesel. Cannot see how eV driving can be encouraged in Ireland.

I actually agree there needs to be some charging costs, but these costs are too much, Rapid costs are especially prohibitive

Insisting on a monthly subscription will also disenfranchise EV drivers from other countries from visiting Ireland.

They should only charge for power usage.
Simply applying a monthly fee to each electric car owner along with a usage fee is stupid!

On Esb .ie site that public charging = FC would cost between €3. /. €5 only when payment structure comes into place which I have a copy of.
You need to rethink this pricing
Structure or ye will have no customers price should be charged as per kWh and not per min home rate = 18 cent per kWh + vat.
