rethink EV charging costs

Monthly charge is terribly high for any user, let alone an infrequent user as I am. Drop the standing charge and keep a reasonable per unit charge.

I have owned a Nissan Leaf for 18 months. Absolutely love it. During that time I have only used a Quick Charge point twice. The rest of the time I charge at home. Why should I have to pay a monthly charge for something I don't use? I have no objection to paying for a charge but only when I use it. Surely a system can be put in place where there is a debit system put on your swipe card. Introducing these monthly charges is only going to put people off converting to electric cars. A short sighted policy for yet another means of gathering tax.

Both the monthly charge and the 30c per minute are way too high.

Happy to pay a reasonable price. But this is exorbitant. Half of the standing monthly charge and 1/3 of FCP charges is sensible.

I have no problem paying a reasonable and fair charge,but this is neither. Paying a multiple of my domestic rate plus a standing charge is extortion.

You need to have a PAYG model also, even if priced at very high rates. You're best case scenario with the system you've suggested is revenue of circa €300,000 per annum, that's negligible compared to your costs. It will also most likely kill the already slow adoption of EVs here. This is not smart business.

I use a FCP one a month, maybe. As such, this standing charge amounts to a tax on owning an ev. Way to go ESB.

Charging costs should follow liquid fuel model on a pay by use basis. Also given the large urban areas like Dublin where it is legal to park in front of a charger without using it there are significant legislative issues to be ironed out. Most importantly I do not feel we have reached the level of market saturation required for this

Please introduce a pay as you go model. I already pay flat chargers (standing charges for electricity).

typical incompetence by ESB. they are clueless. I can get 1300km to a 70ltr tank of diesel regularly. do the math.

Non subscription pay as you go option required for light users.

As a mainly urban user I rarely use the nationwide network. I would be happy to pay for an individual charge if travelling to Cork from Dublin, say. It makes no sense to me to pay a monthly fee for a service I might use 4 to 8 times per year.

There goes my EV order for January no way at those prices...
