I only charge my car at ESB charge point a couple of times a month, less even. I don't feel it's fair for a flat rate to be charged, surely the technology is there to collect fluctuating payments based on swipe card.

These costs are making EVs more expensive to run than a petrol car and will make these interesting only for local driving. This is the death of EVs in Ireland if you go ahead with this plan. PS: no need to invest further in infrastructure: people won't use it any longer at that rate.

I was considering changing to a new EV in Jan however I have to rethink this. I travel on occasion for work and would always have to charge my car to get me home. The cost will definitely prohibit me from charging. At the per minute rate it would probably be cheaper to go back to deisel. Very bad decision on behalf of ESB, car producers and the Government.

Poorly thought out charging plan that does not reflect usage of power supply. Fast charge is extremely unfair and is not based on car or charger performance/behaviour.

Ridiculous idea to flat charge people, this will only encourage people to "get their money's worth" and hog charging points all day. It's also unfair for people who charge at home and only use the public chargers occasionally!

I charge at home 90% of the time. I had only once or twice emergency charging situations in 2 years when I absolutely had to charge on the public infrastructure. I don't want to pay €200/year for "peace of mind" of being able to use the infrastructure in case I need it. Bring a free to access per per KWH fee structure instead.
Cost per fast charge is highly prohibitive as well.

Time based charging does not make a lot of sense. Surely a power based fee would be more equitable. Also a monthly subscription fee for access to Rapid chargers that you hope to use only sporadically is pretty counter intuitive. Sounds like the ESB are trying to raise barriers to early adoption, when they should encouraging EV use.

This is a joke. I have charged three times in a year using the public network. There are no CCS chargers anywhere near where I need them. They can kiss good luck to EV's if this is how they plan to encourage them.

The service provided is do bad and so often out of order for long periods of time, paying for this is mad. It is like Asking petrol car drivers to pay for petrol stations!!!!!!

Typical kill the goose that lay's the golden egg greedy I would say plus at a time when we should be promoting Green motoring with all the scandal surrounding Volkswagen and pollution if this is allowed to go ahead their won't be many new EV owners I think we also need Nissan and all other EV manufacturers to stop this madness and voice their concerns

We are on our second leaf since 2011. We have used the puplic network maybe ten times. There is no way I would pay €17 per month to use two or three times a year. A pre paid card is the only way I would consider this system workable.

I'm a holiday traveller with a Tesla Model S from the Netherlands and I now have a car to charge, but when I need to pay a monthly fee for NOT using my card, then I hope Tesla will roll-out their superchargernetwerk pretty soon all over Ireland. ESB was very nice to me when I came as one of the first Tesla Model S to Ireland, but know they let me down.
