This is Ireland , the fee will increase to an amount that will replace the tax got from Petrol and Diesel, the monthly fee will increase as the numbers of EV's Increases . Eventually driving an electrical car will be more expensive than petrol or diesel . Monthly fee whether you use the car or not , queues at charging points , and range anxiety 25 minute charge time, doesn't seem like a good deal to me !!

I really think this is bad thing. It will force any new buyer to re-think buying an EV car or even getting a new one.

I bought a ev in 02/15,a BMW I3. I would not mind to pay for the electricity used, but I object to the 17.00 Euro monthly fee, as I am charging mostly at home. As the car is mostly used for short trips, I might not even use 17.00 diesel per month. between 30 cents/min electricity and 17.00 Euro fee par month, more people will rethink buying evs.

This price structure is not fair at all... Why would we want to steer people away from electric cars? Silly!

On my second leaf .. the service from ESB is poor enough . I for one will be selling my car if this happens

I drive an electric car or travel by foot or bike as I believe I am living the difference that I want to see in the world. I have to use fast charge points and will have to give up electric car with these charges as it no longer makes sense. This will upset me.

You're kidding me. This is actually in direct contradiction to the Paris Agreement. This can't be legal from that standard as it actually makes fossil fuel burning vehicles less expensive to run, turning people away from emission-free driving. Forget the petition to ESB, this petition should go to the European Commission.

Charge by time does not make sense. Why not just charge by kWh, the same as a domestic meter? I would be happy to pay the same rate as I pay at home.

Too costly. Flat rate for all.

As someone seriously considering purchasing an electric car this proposal is definitely changing my mind from doing so.

NO WAY I would NOT be willing to pay a monthly fee.

Monthly access charge + 30cent a minute? Not interested.

These chargers are supposed to be used for the occasional long distance journey, this makes no sense for anyone to have to pay a very high flat rate and a further very high amount per minute to use this service!!

I would be willing to pay the same rate for charging as I pay at home. I would NOT be willing to pay a monthly fee.

I was thinking of purchasing an EV but faced with the proposed charges I have decided not to. It seems our politicians would prefer to pay fines for not meeting our CO2 targets. Silly me, why would they care as they will collect the money from Joe public.

Happy to pay a usage charge. Flat monthly charge for (very) occasional users like me will kill the EV Ireland ideal and bang goes the co2 targets. Very stupid idea.

577 signatures now - and only about 900 people own an ecar!! If you make these charges it will definitely be uneconomic to keep our ecar and we will go back to diesel

I was literally about to purchase an EV but stumbled upon this petition and was shocked. There is no mention of this on Esb website. Why be so sneaky and underhanded. It's not like there are a huge number of Ev's in Ireland. I have no problem with paying something toward the infrastructure but it needs to be cheaper than petrol or diesel. This is rediculous.

This looks more like a bad joke. Who's laughing
