To the extent that drug use is a medical pathology, it should be addressed by treatment, not facilitation, and by decriminalization, rather than by local governments engaging in what higher levels of government hold to be illegal activity.

Please spend this money on long term rehab beds and mental health beds.

I live downtown and have to say over the few years it's become a drug haven then anytime before . We don't need more drug attic's in our neighborhood !!!

Treatment!

We need to be taking a proactive and aggressive approach to our drug epidemic in Seattle. Creating more using spaces, however it is spun, will not be as effective as creating more places to detox and recover. Our dollars should be spent doing the most helpful things, and safe sites are not the best use of our money.

The Vancouver program is not working. Why replicate?

Vancouver's experience is NOT one to emulate.

Government can give treatment, not drug consumption sites.

Why the kid-gloves with a "please rethink this"? How about this: f&#k no!! It's beyond time that our elected officials are held accountable by their constituents, rather than the lobby that benefits from addiction and homelessness.

All drugs should be legalized. Watch Michael Moore's movie "Where to Invade Next" to see how this policy cleaned up so many social issues--and other great ideas.

I support the Speak Out Seattle position as these sites are not proven and much more study is needed. We need prevention and counseling and not just places to shoot up.

First in the nation! So every substance abuse counsellor and judge in the nation will finally have an option for their unrepentant heroin addict customers: "Move To Seattle!"

This is just another "Attraction" to bring more junkies to Seattle. The reality is a heroin addict is going to shoot up the first opportunity they can. This is not going to do anything but make things worse.

More and better actual treatment. Methadone programs work but need integrated housing and vocational services to enhance recovery
