I have built in TWIG clips to the whole of my S3 BGE and S4 courses at N3, 4 and 5 level. The clips often provide a starter and lead in activity to the lesson, i use the quizzes in plenary sessions and find them excellent. Pupils are now getting glow passwords and I've been encouraging them to look at the clips in the many areas they cover to encourage their interest in the sciences in general. I am horrified that this could be pulled, its integrated into our courses. There are very few alternatives for us to use. What price on a child's engagement and education?

I find the short clips extremely useful to introduce or summarise a topic. The fact pack videos are an excellent way to convey information and allow pupils to have a few minutes of quiet contemplation during a lesson. All my first and second year pupils have added the TWIG tile to their GLOW dashboard and at the start of a new unit they are encouraged to put in a key word and watch a few clips of their choice from the spider diagram of clips.

Using twig and tig tag gives flexibility in lessons that is fundamental to CFE values; differentiation for those who have additional support needs and providing choice and challenge. TWIG helps pupils to visualise contexts in science that can only be shown by film clips. We have used TWIG extensively and as a result have not updated our DVD resources; if we cannot access the clips our pupils will be disadvantaged. It is terrible when cuts impact education at such a fundamental level. Not to say of the increase in work load as we complete an unplanned rewrite of courses.

I use the Twig videos everyday as do my colleagues in our Science department. The pupils love them and benefit from them greatly. The films compliment the National courses so well as well as our S1 and S2 courses. Please dont take them away!
