In my time at DePaul, I never had another professor more hands-on and willing to go above and beyond for his students than Scott Erlinder. He was one of the best at preparing his students for life outside of his class instead of for his final exam. It is safe to say I apply the principles I learned from Prof. Erlinder in my job every day.

Scott Erlinder was my professor and advisor. I learned more from him than any professor working in the Digital Cinema department. I graduated in 2009 and have been working as an industry professional since then, and I've still never met anyone who knows more about cinematography than Scott Erlinder. His ability to convey his knowledge to students is fantastic. On top of that, as my advisor Scott's advice and help was crucial in allowing me to graduate on time. He is one of the most important people working in CDM, and he is absolutely crucial to maintaining the quality of education in DePaul's cinema department.

Scott is the Professor that always had the time to speak with and help a student. Even when he really didn't have the time to do so he would make the time and that was noticed and appreciated by all.
His understanding demeanor and vast knowledge of the trade makes him an ideal person for the job he has. It shaped my approach to teaching and has helped in my journey of becoming the Chair at my own department at another Illinois college.
I encourage the school to rethink their stance and award tenure to Prof. Erlinder.

Scott Erlinder had an enormous impact on me as a student of DePaul's Digital Cinema program; he equipped me with vital knowledge of production and the entertainment industry. I was fortunate to take his advanced cinema/lighting course, and even within that specialized class, learned about the importance of character, story, and hiring the right actors for their respective parts. Five short years later, I am a casting director in Los Angeles (consistently employed), and I attribute a great deal of my early success to my professors at DePaul University - including and especially Scott Erlinder. Denying this man tenure is a grave offense.

Professor Scott is an amazing educator! He taught us cinema photography, how to light a scene, and how to build our gears using the items that you can easily find. He is one of the founders of depaul's digital cinema program!
I think he deserve the tenure!

Scott by far had the greatest impact on me as a professor in the digital cinema program. His HD production class taught rock solid fundamentals of production that I use to this day. He advised me on buying an HD rig that was flexible enough for what I needed and strong enough of a professional production standard in terms of technical specs and capabilities.
The HD video effects and compositing class was really impactful for me. I did a $50k corporate video the next year for an investment banking company and I did extensive greenscreen shooting and compositing to really make this corporate talking head interview piece celebrating a CEO's 25th anniversary very compelling. (with footage shot in various cages at the Lincoln Park Zoo as a backdrop as interviewees discussed what animal he most reminded them of. He was a trustee on the Board of Directors for the Zoo. as well as CEO).

Prof Elinder was one of the my best professors in De Paul. He is excellent in his subject and eager to teach. Losing him means a big loss for future students. You should promote him and encourage teachers like him.

Prof Erlinder did not solely train me technical camera maneuvers, he underlined the substantiality of the aesthetic art of imagination and creativity behind lenses.
The amazing component of his outstanding qualitative mastery lies in how he managed to train me in all of that online. Hence, set off your projection and envisage the width of the span he can expand in the ken of an onsite student...!
Furthermore, he stresses to me the relevance of making clear one's values and principles, and set them as your guidelines and discipline.

Total BS. He was one of my most influential professor at DePaul. Full of knowledge. Would be a shame if the school lost him. It would put a dent to the school's Prestigious Film Program.

Scott Erlinder is a big part of the reason I attended DePaul. When I visited DePaul he was the only person available to spend some time with me, and he did. After talking with Scott I realized that DePaul University felt like the place for me to continue my education. Scott was very honest with me about the potential for myself and DePaul. I've always appreciated him for that. I support Scott Erlinder and hope he continues teaching and being himself at DePaul.

When I say I'm a DePaul grad, people usually nod and recognize the name. What they don't know are the handful of professors behind my undergraduate career who helped develop me into the professional I am today. Top of that list is Scott Erlinder, who was truly invested in me as a student and who taught me just as much, if not more, outside of the classroom as he did in the classroom.
I remember telling him about my first job after graduation and the support and words of wisdom he had for me then. Over the course of the last 10 years since I graduated, I have continued to stay in touch with him. Scott was my first mentor, and I couldn't have been luckier to have him. It's sad to think that the same school who gave me Scott, is depriving other students from the invaluable experience that I had.
Needless to say, Scott more than deserves tenure and I sincerely hope they change their decision.
