Retain Professor Erlinder at DePaul CDM.

Scott's care for his students growth, coupled with his vast knowledge of the tools required for digital filmmaking, is why he is a vital asset to DePaul. One of the only professors that actually provided me with the right knowledge to go out into filmmaking world. Stop hiring egotistical want to be filmmakers, and start taking care of your valuable professors.

Prof. Erlinder was the one professor that I could count on in all needs of family and education while at depaul. He went far above and beyond the call of duty for his students. He was one of the few best assets Depaul had that carried no self promotion and no personal agenda other than to help his students succeed!

I am very greatful for my class time with Scott during my time at DePaul. My only hope is that future students have the same opportunity. I still referee to some of my class notes from Scott's advanced cinematography course when presented with greater challenges in my workplace. I graduated three years ago. To the high ups, please retain Erlinder, few instructors within the cinema program can offer such industry insight and career guidance.

If I could sign this 50 times I would. Not only is Scott a fantastic teacher, he is also an excellent mentor who goes above and beyond for his students. I have told this story many times, but on one of the first larger-scale shoots I ever produced, Scott was there to answer every frantic phone call at 3am when I needed his help. I'll never forget that. And I'm sure I'm not the only student he's done that for. The politics of academia is something I admit I don't fully understand, but what I do know is that it is an absolute shame that he was denied tenure. It's a tremendous loss both for DC students and the program itself. DePaul Digital Cinema was lucky to have such a kind, devoted, and knowledgable professor. I'm sad to see him go.

Scott Erlinder was the single most important professor I had during my time at DePaul. He also became my academic adviser and in both roles he helped to guide me through the digital cinema program and prepare me for post-graduate life. He gives his time generously to students outside of class. During my time as a student and an employee at DePaul, I saw Professor Erlinder as the glue holding the program together and driving student interest. He always challenged his students, but gave them all the skills to succeed and was always around to give advise or answer questions. Scott should absolutely be tenured. I am very disappointed in DePaul if they still haven't realized that, after 11 years of his wide-ranging and ceaseless contributions to the program and his students.

If anyone from my years in DC deserves tenure, it would be Scott.

Professor Erlinder was one of the few instructors that offered down-to-earth, constructive criticism during my four years in the digital cinema program. He encouraged me, as well as my peers, to ask the "why" and "how" in furthering our technical knowledge of the tools we use everyday to bring stories to life. Though some may find him a bit direct, Professor Erlinder always encouraged us to push ourselves a little further, and challenged us to be better versions of ourselves. He is an invaluable part of the DePaul cinematic arts community, and will no doubt contribute to the continued growth of students' work and potential.

Long overdue.

Scott took time with me when I visited DePaul in the summer of 2008. After my conversation with him, I decided DePaul was the right place for me.

Scott was a wonderful, knowledgeable and supportive teacher. In addition to having a plethora of practical experience to share, he showed a deep love of the cinematic arts and would push us as individuals and artists to channel our own passion. In the program, he stood out as being stern in our approach to the craft as well as really looking for inspiration in the real world. He would be a tremendous asset as a tenured member of the Depaul Cinematic Arts department.

Scott is an amazing teacher and is incredibly knowledgable when it comes to cameras, lighting, and cinematography. He taught me so many principles and techniques that I still refer to today. And he has always cared about the digital cinema program at DePaul and deserves to have tenure.

His classes were leaps and bounds ahead of others in terms of scope, rigor, and hands-on application of filmmaking techniques. It's an insult to the education I received that he was denied tenure, and I hope his combined merits ultimately receive the recognition they deserve. A great teacher who challenges students to do their best.

I have never had a more challenging professor that made my time more rewarding than Scott. It would be a great loss to the DePaul community if he were to leave.
