Retain the “Organizational Behavior, Systems, and Analytics” MS degree program at NYU

The Masters degree in Organizational Behavior, Systems and Analytics I earned from NYU was invaluable to my strategic understanding of leading Human Resources teams, driving large-scale initiatives and adding meaningful value to support organizational success. In addition, this degree has opened up many doors to career opportunities for me. I recommend this program and ask the University to consider how it will fill this future void. The largest growing workforce (the Millenial population) has great interest in HR careers and could benefit from a graduate program that teaches these fundamental principles. I would be happy to further elaborate on the program along with Professor Kaufman's passion for this essential program. I am agreeing to sign this petition only because students deserve to pursue areas of business that are underrepresented in academia.

Suppose you have an institution claiming to be an international center of scholarship, teaching and research defined by a culture of academic excellence and innovation. But can an institution whose primary focus is profit generation, going so far to mandate that every school must churn a profit truly live up to that mission? NYU has a history of making penny pinching decisions that end up hurting them in the long run, including tanking its engineering school. It also has an unhealthy obsession with profit generation that often interferes with its mission and has garnered challenges of whether it truly is an not-for-profit institution. If NYU truly is serious about being an international leader through academic excellence, it would be in its long term best interest to 1. Continue the innovative program, Organizational Behavior, Systems and Analytics. The business community is increasingly recognizing the significance of combining analytics and human capital to create a major competitive advantage 2. Look broadly at what constitutes "best students". Many alumni who receive distinguished alumni awards claim if they applied to NYU today, they wouldn't get in. What made NYU such a distinguished school over its tenure was offering opportunity to folks who no one else would take a chance. This tradition and charm may very well be lost if NYU doesn't think outside the "best student" metrics many schools obsess with. In other words, allow programs to make exceptions to the recommended criteria and experiment to see what can create distinguished alumni who contribute to the various fields, thereby allowing NYU to truly live up to their name 3. Be open to disagreeing opinions from the alumni: Sure, in the world today, sometimes actions to cut back are necessary, but if you have alumni that offer valid reasons that don't stem from emotion, its worth at least hearing out and seeing if a mutual solution can be found. The OB program was essential in teaching hands-on techniques on qualitative and quantative research. The professors were informative and always provided assistance and guidance on complex research and concepts. The OB program is essential and prepares its students for their professional pursuits while embedding useful analytical tactics. I hope the program continues to provide students with real-life prospectives from amazing professors!

My name is Roland Ntim and I am a recent graduate of New York University’s Organizational Behavior, Systems, and Analytics degree program and I have been informed that the administration is considering discontinuing this all important program. I am just surprised to hear something like that, to say the least, because I do not even believe that the very well-intentioned administrators would be making such a huge mistake. I am sure there is a reason for such a contemplation, but would that be lack of student interest or lack of financial resources to support the program, or that graduates have not found their degrees useful? I do not believe any of these legitimate reasons could be it. That is why I am unable to digest the logic in even the thought of such a proposal, especially in the light of the recent improvement in financial resources of the university, as demonstrated by the ambitious, very well received and much commendable globalization efforts with new campuses at Abu Dhabi in The United Arab Emirates and Shanghai in China and in addition to all this success, other plans to open sites in Accra, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Florence, London, Madrid, Paris, Prague, Sydney, Tel Aviv, and Washington DC. I am sorry, but am I missing something here?

Save the program!

This program brings meaning to theoretical approaches by teaching students how to adequately and appropriately translate theories into practical real world application. It would be a disservice to students if this program didn't continue. It is one of a kind and allows students to tailor their courses as needed. This ability to construct a degree that fits within the needs of where the industry is going provides the necessary justification for companies to also buy in and pay for their employees to attend this intuitive program. PLEASE CONTINUE THIS PROGRAM!!!

Workforce analytics, which links the social sciences and technology, is an important, evolving area which universities should support through education, innovation, and promotion.

I am very disappointed that the university would consider terminating such a valued OB program. I became an Associate Vice President at TCI College of Technology because of my OB degree. I also earned an MBA from Poly, and you have already terminated that program. I have spent thousands of dollars on both of my degrees at Poly, yet NYU seems to be heartless executives who simply want to do away with valuable programs for financial gain rather than considering the potentials of such great programs that produced valuable alumni. NYU as a name is becoming a symbol of greed and of taking financial advantage of alumni and students. If you terminate the OB program, then word of mouth will spread as to your vicious actions against Poly alumni. I urge you to please reconsider. Please redesign or further develop the program to your liking, but do not terminate the program. Thank you for your attention and reconsideration.

I believe the OBSA program is extremely valuable in Organizational Management and Labor relations and Collective bargaining instruction. I was President of the student chapter of SHRM and I realized immense career success as a result of my OB education at NYU-Poly.
