A sports stadium is vital to its community, and I hope that this stadium can be modified and brought back to life.

Although there is no football team currently playing at the stadium, I believe that it would be shortsighted to develop the site. Witney should be large enough to support a local side and we should not rule this out in the future. My family were heavily involved in the original Witney Town side that played on Marriott's Close and my grandfather Herbert Smith went on to play for England. Let's leave the opportunity for a football club to be resurrected in the town. The site also has value as a community venue for other activities as listed in the petition summary.

As an ex-resident of Witney I feel it has the potential to be a great facility. Removing venues & facilities to create housing is an error. Housing should be built near the stadium and the stadium should be developed as a leisure focal point for the benefit of the new residents & existing locals. Rather than a creating a soulless housing estate.

As a supporter of Oxford City for many years and watcher of local football in general it would be good to see a Witney Town/United side playing once more in Witney

This is a ready made facility that can be of immense use to the community, it would be daft to lose it.

Derelict and rotting away. For Witney to prosper as a town providing recreational access to all, a stadium providing adequate facilities is required for a senior team to participate in regional football in the non-league system. The Downs Road ground provides this environment to encourage the young football players of today and tomorrow. Your town needs your input for the aspirations of your kids: save the football ground!
